Aerospace Executive ‘Absolutely Convinced’ There Are Aliens On Earth

In an eye-opening interview on 60 Minutes Sunday night, aerospace mogul and entrepreneur Robert Bigelow said he was absolutely convinced there were alien visitors to Earth.

Most of the segment focused on how NASA and the Las Vegas-based Bigelow Aerospaceare in a partnership to develop an expandable craft for humans to use in space. Bigelows far-reaching vision puts him right in the middle of a new privatization of space, a race that includes billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.

In the following video, Bigelow describes a typical expandable system to be used on future space flights.

However, during the 60 Minutes interview with correspondent Lara Logan, the conversation shifted to Bigelows reported obsession with UFOs and aliens.

Logan: Do you believe in aliens?

Bigelow: Im absolutely convinced. Thats all there is to it.

Logan: Do you also believe that UFOs have come to Earth?

Bigelow: There has been and is an existing presence, an ET presence. And I spent millions and millions and millions I probably spent more as an individual than anybody else in the United States has ever spent on this subject.

Logan: Is it risky for you to say in public that you believe in UFOs and aliens?

Bigelow: I dont give a damn. I dont care.

Logan: You dont worry that some people will say, Did you hear that guy, he sounds like hes crazy?

Bigelow: I dont care. Its not gonna make a difference. Its not gonna change reality of what I know.

Bigelow wouldnt elaborate on what kind of results he had achieved from his well-funded UFO research. When asked if he thought future space missions would result in any encounters between humans and aliens, Bigelow said, You dont have to go anywhere. Its just like right under peoples noses.

While Bigelow declined to describe his personal UFO encounters, he offered more elaborate details about UFOs, extraterrestrials and the private space industry during an interview on the national radio program, Coast to Coast AM.

Life review exuberantly grisly Alien rip-off

Rebecca Ferguson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds play an enjoyably gory game of hide-and-seek with a hungry alien

The crew of a space station is picked off, one by one, by an extraterrestrial life form which seems to view the human contents of the craft as some kind of alien finger buffet. And if that premise sounds more than a little familiar, thats because Daniel Espinosas enjoyable sci-fi horror movie shares narrative DNA with everything from Tarkovskys Solaris to Danny Boyles Sunshine to, most glaringly of all, Ridley Scotts Alien. But although this is undeniably an Alien rip-off, its an Alien rip-off that announces itself with a dizzyingly audacious zero-gravity single-shot sequence in which Ryan Reynolds wrests a wounded satellite out of orbit using a rob otic grabber claw. With this stunning set piece, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey more than meets the challenge set by Emmanuel Lubezkis Oscar-winning work on Gravity.

The satellite contains Martian soil samples, within which is an inert single-celled organism: incontrovertible proof of life on Mars. In the name of scientific research (or of narrative convenience) the head researcher (British actor Ariyon Bakare) decides to jump-start the organism out of its stasis, and is rewarded by a rapidly growing glob of gelatinous malice. Aliens infamous John Hurt chest-eruption scene is matched for gruesome relish if not shock value by a sequence in which the creature force-feeds itself to a key character. Not all of the actors have enough screen time to really register, but Jake Gyllenhaal, playing a jaded medic who no longer feels he belongs on Earth, has a brooding, soulful quality; the electricity between his character and Rebecca Fergusons safety officer crackles satisfyingly.

There are some pacing issues: the obligatory despairing all is lost sequence at the end of the second act drags, and is not improved by one of the remaining survivors quoting chunks of the insipid childrens bedtime book Goodnight Moon. And the slightly predictable nature of the plotting doesnt match the inventiveness of the exuberantly grisly special effects. But the screenplays policy of exploring every possible worst-case scenario culminates in a deliciously bleak, if not entirely unexpected payoff.

Did UFOs cause Marilyn Monroe’s death? Documentary claims proof

A new documentary claims that Marilyn Monroe was killed because she was going to leak evidence regarding extraterrestrials and their existence.

Directed by Michael Mazzola, “Unacknowledged” goes into a wide range of conspiracy theories, including one that offers up a possible explanation for Marilyn Monroe’s death — that she knew about UFOs and threatened to leak classified documents.

In a clip first spotted by technology website Gizmodo, actor Burl Ives claimed that Monroe did not die from a drug overdose. Dr. Steven Greer, who is the subject of the documentary holds up a so-called death warrant after Monroe had had phone coversations with reporter Dorothy Kilgallen, who was looking into the famous Roswell incident.

Below is the clip in its entirety:

According to a plot summary on movie database website, IMDB, “Unacknowledged” is about the so-called Disclosure Project and how UFO secrecy has been enforced.

UFO HUNTER CLAIMS PROOF OF GIANT ALIEN SHIP THAT CRASHED ‘MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO’

“The best evidence for extraterrestrial contact, dating back decades, is presented with direct top-secret witness testimony, documents and UFO footage, 80% of which has never been revealed anywhere else,” the plot summary reads. “The behind-the-scenes research and high-level meetings convened by Dr. Steven Greer will expose the degree of illegal, covert operations at the core of UFO secrecy.”

The movie is now available on both digital and video on demand.

Area 51: Leaked video purports alien craft being tested at secret military base

A video from noted conspiracy theorists SecureTeam 10 describes what it calls “leaked” footage of an alien craft at Area 51 in Nevada.

The video, which has racked up over 200,000 views on YouTube, appears to show a flying object hovering in the sky, then flying in a way that known aircraft can not currently do.

Light emits from the craft as it moves side to side then up and down.

Here is the video in its entirety:

On the video, Tyler Glockner, who runs SecureTeam 10, described the clip as a “hidden gem,” noting it was alleged to have been filmed in the 1980’s or 1990’s.

UFO SIGHTING? VIDEO PURPORTEDLY SHOWING MASSIVE LIGHTS OVER PARIS RAISES QUESTIONS

“It’s one of the mysterious pieces in UFOlogy,” Glockner said of the footage.

SecureTeam 10, which openly states that it runs conspiracy theory-based videos, has more than 900,000 subscribes to its YouTube channel.

Area 51 has become a hot topic for extraterrestrial enthusiasts, due to the U.S. government never acknowledging its presence until 2013.

The National Security Archive at George Washington University declassified CIA documents in August 2013, thanks to a freedom of information request (FOIA) by Archivist Jeffrey Richelson, which confirmed the existence of the Nevada military base.

The famed U-2 spy plane, as well as the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird are both confirmed to have been tested at Area 51.

Alien life may already exist in our galaxy

Saturns moon Enceladus, Jupiters moon Europa, Pluto and its moon Charon, as well as the dwarf planet Ceres are potential homes for extra-terrestrials, scientists at University of Texas at San Antonio and the Southwest Research Institute claim.

Its all down to a process called radioalysis, which experts believe could breed life across the universe.

All thats needed is a rocky core and water molecules something scientists reckon our solar system has plenty of.

The study found that a the rocky cores of some planets and moons emit radiation which break up water molecules and in turn feed microbial life.

Scientists conducted an experiment to predict how the radiation would affect interior oceans on planets like Pluto and Saturn’s moon Europa.

Alexis Bouquet, lead author said: “The physical and chemical processes that follow radiolysis release molecular hydrogen, which is a molecule of astrobiological interest.”

The radiation comes from elements like uranium, potassium and thorium – all of which are found in a group of rocky meteorites called chrondites.

Pluto, as well as Saturn and Jupiter’s moons, is made up of chrondite.

That means any ocean water permeating the porous rock of the core could be affected by radiolysis, producing molecular hydrogen and reactive oxygen compounds – the building blocks for life.

NASA seems pretty convinced that Europa has a big ocean on it, and is planning to send a spaceship there to search for alien life.

Lifeforms which have formed through radiolysis can be found closer to home.

Bouquet said that they have been found in extreme environments on Earth.

These include a groundwater sample found nearly two miles deep in a South African gold mine and at hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor.

Their existence suggests microbes could be found where rock and ocean meet in planets like Enceladus or Europa.
“We know that these radioactive elements exist within icy bodies, but this is the first systematic look at the solar system to estimate radiolysis.

“The results suggest that there are many potential targets for exploration out there, and thats exciting,” added co-author Dr Danielle Wyrick, a principal scientist in Southwest Research Institute’s Space Science and Engineering Division.

Radiolysis could also help create food for these aliens.
“Radiolysis in an ocean worlds outer core could be fundamental in supporting life. Because mixtures of water and rock are everywhere in the outer solar system, this insight increases the odds of abundant habitable real estate out there,” Bouquet said.

It’s just the latest discovery to delight UFO hunters.

Conspiracy theorists tongues were wagging after a mysterious star which could be home to alien life began flashing again last week.

‘Alien: Covenant’ Just Barely Beats ‘Guardians’ At The Weekend Box Office

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – As this weekend approached, the question lingered if Alien: Covenant would be able to unseat Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 from the top spot at the domestic box office.

Now, we have an answer. As of Sunday morning, Covenant, from 20th Century Fox and Scott Free Productions, looks to be the winner with a three-day estimate of $36 million (27.6 million pounds) from 3,761 locations. Thats just above Disneys Guardians sequel which is raking in an additional $35.3 million from 4,347 spots. The super sequel is seeing only a 46% drop from last weekend, and its total domestic earnings now exceed $300 million.

While Alien may have won, the films price tag in the $100 million range and marketing costs detract from the victory. The sixth installment in the Alien franchise (not counting the two Alien vs. Predator films) was directed by Ridley Scott and stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride. It holds a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is in line with 2012s Prometheus. Although it came in already having made $42 million overseas and $36 million was enough to land in the top slot, Alien grossed less during its first weekend in the U.S. than Prometheus did in 2012 ($51 million). Its final domestic earnings also came in below earlier projections, which pegged the horror flick at least $40 million.

Foxs president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson chalked the lower totals compared with Prometheus to the normal course of business. He added that Alien: Covenant gives fans of the franchise since the 1979 original the chance to share with the younger generation (60% of the opening weekend audience was in the 18-34 demo). Teenagers likely havent seen Alien, he said, This movie creates a generational bond.

While the Alien franchise is still able to generate decent interest, the same cannot be said for Foxs other release this weekend, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. The fourth live-action movie based on Jeff Kinneys middle school-centric book series opened to $7.2 million from 3,157 locations. David Bowers, who directed movies two and three, returned to the helm nearly five years after the last iteration, and anointed a new titular wimp in Jason Drucker.

The only other major release of the weekend was Everything, Everything, from Warner Bros. and MGM. The sick-lit adaptation will earn $12 million by the end of the weekend from 2,801 locations. Thats enough to land in the top three. Hunger Games standout Amandla Stenberg stars as a girl with an autoimmune disease that keeps her locked up indoors. Nick Robinson plays her love interest named Olly. Everything, Everything earned the highest CinemaScore of the new released (an A- overall). 82% of its audience was female, and 74% were under 25 years old.

Along with our partners, MGM, were thrilled that we hit our key demo, commented Jeff Goldstein, domestic distribution chief at Warner Bros.

Amy Schumers Snatched, also from Fox, will see an additional $7.6 million in earnings from 3,511 theaters, putting it in the fourth slot, ahead of Wimpy Kid. Also in its second weekend, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword continues to flop miserably with a weekend total of less than $7 million.

With Memorial Day weekend on the horizon, the overall domestic summer box office is ten percentage points lower than it was at this time last year. That means all eyes are fixed on a duo of splashy summer releases Disneys Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Paramounts Baywatch to hopefully make up some ground.

The dominance at this point by Disney and Marvels early summer entry Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is impressive having earned more than all the other films combined, said Paul Degarabedian, senior media analyst at ComScore, who noted that Captain America: Civil War accounted for more than half of the summer take at this point last year. However, a slow start does not portend a slow overall summer as many have predicted, he added, though if the ebb and flow of this seasons fortunes thus far is any indication we may have to buckle up for a pretty bumpy ride.

‘Alien: Covenant’ doesn’t deliver much bite

(CNN)“Alien” taught us that in space, no one can hear you scream. The latest offshoot of its DNA, “Alien: Covenant,” offers the lesson for fans of early incarnations that in theaters, people can indeed hear you sigh.

Although “Covenant” incorporates the “Prometheus” story, the movie feels less like a sequel than a Frankenstein version of the “Alien” franchise, stitched together from pieces of earlier films. Even the terror of being in a confined space with a Xenomorph is diminished when the sequences amount to cut-and-paste jobs from prior go-rounds.
Perhaps tellingly, the only standout performance comes courtesy of Michael Fassbender, reprising his role as the synthetic David as well as a newer model, Walter. The latter is part of the crew of Covenant, a ship ferrying 2,000 colonists to a new world in 2104.
An opening sequence, flashing back to David’s “birth,” is genuinely intriguing and like much of the film visually arresting. Unfortunately, that also turns out to be the highlight of a movie that peaks early.
Circumstances force the hibernating crew to awaken prematurely, despite still being years away from their intended destination. A tragedy leaves them under the leadership of Oram (Billy Crudup), who, against the advice of his second in command Daniels (Katherine Waterston) decides to make a detour to investigate a “rogue transmission” emanating from another planet that might actually be more hospitable to settlement based on its readings.
Those hopes, naturally, are pretty quickly dashed. But the slightly next-gen version of the aliens we’ve come to know doesn’t make the crew’s behavior or decision-making any brighter.
Waterston ostensibly has the equivalent of the Ripley role, but it’s thinly written and defined. Other than Fassbender, most of the cast (which includes Danny McBride and “Empire’s” Jussie Smollett) pretty transparently serves little purpose other than to provide ambulatory hors d’oeuvres for their gruesome hosts, albeit in ways that seldom muster the kind of tension that made “Alien” and “Aliens” classics.
Why Fox would want to keep churning out “Alien” movies is hardly a mystery, given how cool they look on billboards and their international appeal. What has motivated an acclaimed director like Scott to willingly board another flight into banality proves more puzzling.
The entire franchise, in fact, had been well on its way into cheesy popcorn territory with the “Alien vs. Predator” movies, which seemed like as good a way to keep exploiting the material as any. Scott’s reunion with the space thriller seemingly augured a desire to pursue a more ambitious and thoughtful approach.
Instead, “Alien: Covenant” delivers another hollowed-out movie-going experience — one that might not burst out of your chest, but which offers precious little that’s memorable enough to stick to your ribs.
“Alien: Covenant” opens in the U.S. on May 19. It’s rated R.

Harvard Scientists Say Aliens May Be Using Giant Radio Beams To Travel The Cosmos

Two Harvard University scientists are suggesting that mysterious fast radio bursts, detected in faraway galaxies, may be evidence of aliens traveling through the cosmos.

FRBs are extremely bright flashes of radio waves that last for only a thousandth of a second and are detected by earthbound telescopes. Since the first one was observed 10 years ago, 17 have actually been reported, although scientists think there are thousands of them a day.

At first, Abraham Avi Loeb said, he took a conservative approach to explaining them.

It looked like the simplest explanation would be flares from stars in the Milky Way galaxy, said Loeb, a theoretical astrophysicist and chair of Harvards astronomy department.

But then one of the FRBs was localized to reside in a small galaxy at a distance of about a billion light-years away, Loeb told The Huffington Post. (One light-year is about 6 trillion miles.)

Essentially, that means these FRBs are coming from the edge of the universe and must be brighter than anything else we know.

In a new paper published in The Astrophysical Journal Lettersthis month, Loeb and Harvard physicist Manasvi Lingam say they decided to examine the possibility that fast radio bursts originate from the activity of extragalactic civilizations.

Since there are many more galaxies out there than the Milky Way, it makes sense statistically that one would detect such phenomena outside the Milky Way more often rather than inside it, Lingam told HuffPost.

While Loeb and Lingam dont claim that FRBs definitely originate from aliens, they speculate that such phenomena could be the result of other civilizations using gigantic radio transmitters to hopscotch from one galaxy to another.

An almost planet-sized, solar-powered radio transmitter could generate enough energy to propel an interstellar light sail (like the one illustrated above), they suggest. These sails, in turn, might be sufficient to push about 20 times the largest cruise ships on Earth. FRBs would be the leakage from such transmitters.

Our upper bound on the number of such civilizations is 10,000 in a typical galaxy, Lingam said. But Id like to reiterate that this is the maximal value. In all probability, the real value is likely to be much lower.

Nobody on Earth has detected any interstellar light sails yet. What large radio telescopes, like the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico or the Parkes Observatory in Australia, have picked up are very fast, bright flashes of energy.

For us to detect these bursts so many light-years away, Loeb said, theyd need a very bright source.

So what we are considering in our scenario is a very narrow beam of radiation pushing on a sail, and that requires roughly the amount of energy intercepted by the Earth [from]sunlight. Thats the kind of power you need the energy falling on the Earth from the sun, he said.

Loeb chairs the advisory committee for theStarshotproject, which seeks to send a spaceship to Alpha Centauri, a star system over four light-years from Earth. The idea would be to aim powerful laser beams from Earth at thin sails carrying more than 1,000 probes. Its not the same as the radio waves possibly used by aliens, but then humans are still taking baby steps into space.

I can imagine [aliens] doing what we are just starting to do now, Loeb said.

The Harvard scientist is well aware that talking about aliens, even hypothetically, can start some eye-rolling. But he doesnt share that bias.

We shouldnt be guided by prejudice when we think about what may be out there, said Loeb. Many people tend to think they know the truth. They think that we are special, that maybe there is nothing out there.

I think we should just observe and whenever we see something unusual, we should think, contemplate the possibility that it could be artificial. And there is nothing bad about that its a learning experience.

Indeed, its probably the essence of being a theoretical astrophysicist.

The whole principle of science is that you collect data that can falsify an idea that you have or prove it right, Loeb said.

Lingam acknowledges that their hypothesis is still a tad speculative.

We have suggested a potential means of distinguishing between natural and artificial origin of FRBs by taking a closer look at the signals, and looking for certain distinguishable patterns, he said.

But dont expect a quick answer on the aliens question. With more data expected to emerge in the coming decades, I believe that our hypothesis will be testable, Lingam said.

Wrinkles, tentacles and oval eyes: How depictions of aliens have evolved

(CNN)In 1979, none of the promotional material for the film “Alien” showed moviegoers even a glimpse of the titular creature.

The gamble paid off. Thirty-eight years later, the design of the xenomorph creature from “Alien” set a new standard for how science fiction films depict extraterrestrials.
This month, the extraterrestrials from the “Alien” film series return to terrorize film audiences in “Alien: Covenant.” But the nightmarish look of the alien will hardly be shocking.
Even non-fans of science fiction these days can recognize what is supposed to be styled as an “alien,” to the point where the telltale signs of a creature from other worlds have become somewhat expected.
So, why do different aliens look the way they do? And what will they look like in 20 years? Below is a look at the art and design of some of film’s most memorable extraterrestrials.

An alien by any other name is an artist

Originally hired in 1973 by Alejandro Jodorowsky for conceptual work on an unproduced cinematic version of “Dune,” artist H.R. Giger was instrumental in creating the disturbing design for Ridley Scott’s “Alien.” Alan Dean Foster, who wrote the novelization of the film, says Giger’s artwork was “critical to the success of the film and its successors.”

      Boldly going … to Earth!

Iris van Herpen: When high fashion meets science

Dangerous and aggressive aliens come in all shapes and sizes in “Star Trek.” From 1987 to 2005, makeup artist Michael Westmore created over a hundred different aliens — many of them menacing — across four “Star Trek” television series.
“The eyes and mouth are the communicative windows between the aliens and the humans,” he says. Writing in his memoir, “Makeup Man,” Westmore reveals he based some of his “future forehead designs” on real “dinosaur vertebra.”

The devil’s in the ‘Star Wars’ details

After creating primitive apes for “2001: A Space Odyssey,” Stuart Freeborn designed the vast majority of the aliens in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, including the famous face of Yoda. But because Freeborn was briefly hospitalized in 1976, many of the background aliens in the original “Star Wars” cantina scene were repurposed creatures originally meant for other films.

      ‘Grey’ aliens

Historian and expert on UFO ephemera Jack Womack (author of “Flying Saucers Are Real!”) describes the large-oval eyed-aliens, “grey” aliens, as part of a change in the way extraterrestrials were depicted by both true believers and filmmakers like Steven Spielberg. “‘Close Encounters’ aliens were very indicative of the shift going on at the time,” he says. “From aliens being a mystery to aliens being our friends.”

      Seeing tentacles

The heptapod tentacled aliens from “Arrival” represent a divergence between science fiction aliens and aliens reported by supposed eyewitness accounts. Tentacled aliens are “more prevalent in science fiction,” Womack says.
“There’s a long tradition of squishy cephalopodic aliens that predate anything in Lovecraft.” Womack also thinks the prevalence of humanoid aliens among true believers is cyclical. “If people are familiar with little green men, they will see little green men.”

The future of aliens might be in the past

Aliens in films or television 20 years from now might not look too different from the ones invading our screens now. Like the cycle of fashion itself, certain aliens will always come back around.
“From the beginning of time, alien images, or what is supposed to be an alien image or symbol, has appeared in the art of various historical cultures,” Westmore says.
And from Giger’s hissing, acid-blooded Alien to the friendly, wrinkly Spielberg-style E.T., aliens with limbs, eyes and mouths will continue to visit us on TV and film. At least until real ones arrive.

The cast of ‘Alien: Covenant’ knows exactly how to terrify you

(CNN)It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 40 years since “Alien” roared into theaters and terrified audiences with its famous chest-bursting scene. Now, director Ridley Scott is back with everyone’s favorite Xenomorph for more screams in “Alien: Covenant,” which hits theaters on Friday.

Turns out, it has something to do with channeling real fear in the actors so viewers can experience the terror for themselves.
“We had pretty good visuals to work with,” actress Katherine Waterston, who stars as the lead female character Daniels, told CNN. “We didn’t have to many CGI, green screens or sticks with Xs on the end to look at.”
Comedic actor Danny McBride, who rarely takes on dramatic roles said he approached the prep work for the movie in the same way he tackles comedies.
“When we do comedy, for me, the comedy has to feel real, it has to be grounded,” McBride said. “You gotta find what makes this person seem real and seem relatable.”
The movie makers used sets that look and feel real, which is something McBride cites as a source that made the terror authentic for him.
“You’re on what looks like a spaceship. You feel the claustrophobia,” he said. “I could remember there was something where we are in pursuit and it felt real. You saw the guy come out of the chamber in costume… It does spark something in you.”
For director Scott, the fear in “Alien” is a primal one, which harkens back to the famed chest-bursting scene from the 1979 original.
“I think the event that occurred right in your face, at the kitchen table… was primordial, was so shocking I think it stuck with people forever, really,” Scott said.
Scott said that when he previewed the original film, he walked around the theater to look at viewers’ reactions. And he liked what he saw.
“I was in good shape, because people were already sliding down the seat,” he said.
Aside from being one of the scariest series in film history, with a windfall of $1.3 billion worldwide, 20th Century Fox’s “Alien” franchise was a trailblazer for featuring a strong female lead with Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley, a role that made Weaver a star and helped her score an Academy Award nomination.
Waterston said that Weaver’s performance in “Alien” was an inspiration for her.
“I grew up watching that movie, and she’s so brilliant in it… I remember being very impressed with her reactions, her stillness,” she said. “Her stillness in that film, I think really helped sell a lot of the horror.”

Russian Outlet Claims NASA Took An Amazing, Totally True Image Of 3 UFOs

Whenever a story comes out claiming to show real pictures or video of UFOs, hope springs eternal that maybe, just maybe, this might be that elusive smoking-gun evidence of alien technology.

Not a day goes by, either, without something in the news questioning the honesty of certain Americans or Russians. Now it seems that UFOs have been added to that media storm.

The innocent image above is from a collection called Pixabay, which offers many free stock photos to use for practically anything youd like. This one shows our sun with a circular black dot, reportedly the planet Mercury, making a transit across our home star.

Still, how would Pixabay feel if a Russian news site, Pravda.ru ironically, the name means truth took that same picture, added two more black dots, called them all UFOs and claimed this was, in fact, a picture captured by a NASA STEREO spacecraft?

        Wow!

If you compare the two images, it doesnt take long to figure out that the sun in the two pictures is identical and all that Pravda.ru did was finish it off with two more UFOs and a headline that reads: NASA spacecraft captures three huge UFOs silhouetted against the Sun.

        That deserves another Wow!

When HuffPost reached out to a NASA spokesman to comment about all of this, he said, Im not aware of this photo being released. Certainly not from NASA. There is no official or unofficial NASA posting of the image.

For what its worth, this isnt the first time that UFO charlatans have tried to convince the public that extraterrestrial ships are getting a little too close to our sun.

Heres a video of an alleged alien ship refueling, according to a source that is definitely not NASA:

NASA generally has well thought-out explanations for these types of UFO incursions into our solar system.

For its part, Pravda.ru, which is separate from the Communist Party paper, has a history of extremely creative journalism. But the truth is out there.

        Just not Pravda.rus truth.

UFOs In The Clouds — Lenticular Clouds, That Is — Fire Our Imaginations Of Alien Visitors

Have you ever spent a lazy day on a blanket in the middle of a summer meadow, staring up at the sky, watching the clouds drift by, and imagining them take the shapes of familiar things?

Theres even an organization, The Cloud Appreciation Society, devoted to the activity of cloud gazing. When their February 2017 cloud of the month turned out to be a flying saucer-shaped lenticular cloud, it absolutely inspired us to seek out more of these breathtaking images of clouds from around the world that have caused people to report seeing alien visitors.

The Weather Channel has referred to lenticular clouds as Mother Natures UFOs. These altocumulus lenticularis clouds appearing to our senses as disc-shaped objects often form in mountainous regions where stable moist air flows upward and then, when it becomes colder, it descends, forming a disc-like cloud that can appear to hover in the air.

Theyre also seen in non-mountain areas, formed by the strong winds resulting from a storm front.

Weve gathered some remarkable images here that might make you think twice about whether people have been lucky enough to capture amazing UFO pictures, or the more credible explanation of lenticular clouds.

Alien: Covenant why Ridley Scott’s facehuggers and chestbursters will never die

        It’s a ravioli! It’s a UFO! It’s … a moon

(CNN)NASA on Thursday released pictures of Pan, one of Saturn’s many moons, and its distinctive shape is drawing comparisons to flying saucers and stuffed pasta.

The images of the moon come courtesy of NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, and reveal the UFO-like form of the tiny satellite, which has an average radius of just 8.8 miles.
Cassini’s Twitter account tweeted a gif showing the raw images.
Twitter users quickly chimed in. “Should or could be called Wonton or Ravioli but that’s amazing!!!” one wrote. “Sign me up! Ravioli is one of my favorite foods,” said another.
One artist even took the time to make a little comic.
According to NASA’s website, Pan’s strange shape comes from what is called an equatorial ridge, a characteristic it shares with one of its sister moons, Atlas.
The ridge has formed over the course of Pan’s history because it orbits Saturn inside the planet’s rings, collecting stray particles as it goes, said Preston Dyches, a spokesman for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
Pan is Saturn’s closest moon, and orbits the planet in just 13.8 hours.
Earlier this year, Cassini sent back images of Tethys, another Saturn moon that has a striking resemblance to the Death Star from “Star Wars.”
Cassini is a joint effort between NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian space agency, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana. It was originally launched in June 2008 on a mission to explore the Saturn System.
In September, Cassini’s mission will come to an end when it hurtles towards Saturn’s surface for what NASA is calling the “Grand Finale.” On its way down, the spacecraft will collect information and data such as the strength of Saturn’s gravity as well as more pictures of the planet’s rings.
But for now, it will continue to beam back stunning images of Saturn and space ravioli.

Alien Civilizations May Number In The Trillions, New Study Says

Amazing photo shows likely alien planet 1,200 light-years away | Fox News

The Very Large Telescope in Chile captured this direct image of a likely exoplanet to the upper left of the star CVSO 30 (which is the bluish-white blob at center). (ESO/Schmidt et al.)

A jaw-dropping new photo shows a probable alien planet orbiting a star that lies 1,200 light-years from Earth.

The potential planet appears as a brownish dot to the left of the bright bluish-white star CVSO 30 in the newly released image, which was captured by the European Southern Observatory’s (ESO) Very Large Telescope in Chile.

To appreciate just how fantastic it is to have a direct image of this candidate world, consider that CVSO 30 is about 280 times farther away from Earth than is Alpha Centauri, the star system nearest to our own. [Alien Planet Quiz: Are You an Exoplanet Expert?]

And remember also that 1 light-year is about 5.9 trillion miles (9.5 trillion kilometers). So the newly photographed world, known provisionally as CVSO 30c, is about 7 quadrillion miles (11 quadrillion km) away (in the direction of the constellation Orion, for what it’s worth).

CVSO 30c remains a candidate planet, awaiting confirmation by follow-up observations or analysis. If it does indeed exist, the planet circles the star at a whopping distance of 660 astronomical units (AU), completing one orbit every 27,000 years, researchers said. (One AU is the Earth-sun distance  about 93 million miles, or 150 million km).

Astronomers spotted another planet candidate, CVSO 30b, around the same star back in 2012 via the “transit method,” which looks for the tiny brightness dips caused when orbiting planets cross their host stars’ faces.

Both potential alien worlds are gas giants, like Jupiter and Saturn. But they occupy very different spaces; CVSO 30b, if it exists, completes one orbit every 11 hours and lies just 0.008 AU from the star, astronomers said.

“If it is confirmed that CVSO 30c orbits CVSO 30, this would be the first star system to host both a close-in exoplanet detected by the transit method and a far-out exoplanet detected by direct imaging,” ESO representatives wrote in a description of the new image.

“Astronomers are still exploring how such an exotic system came to form in such a short timeframe, as the star is only 2.5 million years old; it is possible that the two planets interacted at some point in the past, scattering off one another and settling in their current extreme orbits,” they added.

Direct imaging has been used to discover just a handful of alien planets to date. (Most of the 3,300-odd confirmed alien worlds have been found via the transit method, by NASA’s Kepler space telescope.) But direct imaging promises to be more productive in the near future as technology improves, and may even provide the first convincing evidence of alien life, some astronomers have said.

The study reporting the detection of CVSO 30c  which relied on observations by the Keck Observatory in Hawaii and the Calar Alto Observatory in Spain in addition to the Very Large Telescope (VLT) has been accepted for publication in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics. You can read it online for free here: http://www.eso.org/public/archives/releases/sciencepapers/potw1624/potw1624a.pdf

The VLT, part of ESO’s Paranal Observatory, consists of four individual telescopes, each of which has a main mirror that’s 26.9 feet (8.2 meters) wide.

Dems Try To Stop Republicans From Making Library of Congress Use Term ‘Illegal Alien’

Latino, Asian and black Democratic House members are fighting Republican efforts to force the Library of Congress to use the term “illegal alien,” a phrase many consider to be pejorative and that library leaders chose to stop using.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus signed onto a letter sent Monday by Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) to the House appropriations committee.

It urged the committee to remove a provision requiring the Library of Congress to use the terms “aliens” and “illegal aliens” in its subject headings.

“Terms and how they are defined by society change with time. As meanings of words evolve with the times, so should our usage of those terms,” the letter reads.

The letter went on to say that “dated and dehumanizing terms such as ‘illegal alien’ and ‘alien’ have taken on a highly negative connotation and perpetuate the denigration of immigrant communities.”

This March, the Library of Congress made the decision to use the term “noncitizens” in place of “aliens” in subject headings and to replace “illegal alien” with “noncitizen” and “unauthorized immigration.” Some Republicans balked at that change.

House appropriations committee chairman Tom Graves (R-Ga.) argued that the subcommittee was not making a political statement surrounding the terminology, but rather attempting to ensure the language chosen by the Library of Congress matches that of the U.S. legal code.

Despite the Library of Congress’ decision to eliminate the language, the appropriators included a provision in the legislative branch funding proposal for the 2017 fiscal year that would force the Library of Congress to use the term.

“In the past, as society has come to understand the pain certain words can cause communities, we’ve done the right thing and eliminated those terms from our acceptable vocabulary,” Castro said in a press statement. “The Appropriations Committee should continue that progress now, not move our nation backwards and unnecessarily perpetuate a negative stigma.”

The universe has probably hosted many alien civilizations: Study | Fox News

File photo – Reuters (ake/DIGITAL/Photo by J. UFO).

Many other planets throughout the universe probably hosted intelligent life long before Earth did, a new study suggests.

The probability of a civilization developing on a potentially habitable alien planet would have to be less than one in 10 billion trillion or one part in 10 to the 22nd power for humanity to be the first technologically advanced species the cosmos has ever known, according to the study.

“To me, this implies that other intelligent, technology-producing species very likely have evolved before us,” said lead author Adam Frank, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester in New York. [13 Ways to Hunt Intelligent Alien Life]

“Think of it this way: Before our result, youd be considered a pessimist if you imagined the probability of evolving a civilization on a habitable planet was, say, one in a trillion,” Frank said in a statement. “But even that guess one chance in a trillion implies that what has happened here on Earth with humanity has in fact happened about 10 billion other times over cosmic history.”

In 1961, astronomer Frank Drake devised a formula to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilizations that may exist today in the Milky Way.

Adam Frank and co-author Woodruff Sullivan of the University of Washington were interested in the odds that intelligent aliens have ever existed anywhere in the universe. So they tweaked the famous Drake equation, coming up with an “archaeological version” that doesn’t take into account how long alien civilizations may last.

Frank and Sullivan also incorporated observations from NASA’s Kepler space telescope and other instruments, which suggest that about 20 percent of all stars host planets in the life-friendly, “habitable zone,” where liquid water could exist on a world’s surface.

The researchers then calculated the probability that Earth was the universe’s first-ever abode for intelligent life, after taking into account the number of stars in the observable universe (about 20 billion trillion, according to a recent estimate).

“From a fundamental perspective, the question is, ‘Has it ever happened anywhere before?'” Frank said. “Our result is the first time anyone has been able to set any empirical answer for that question, and it is astonishingly likely that we are not the only time and place that an advanced civilization has evolved.”

But this doesn’t mean that there are lots of intelligent aliens out there, just waiting to be contacted, the researchers stressed.

“The universe is more than 13 billion years old,” Sullivan said in the same statement. “That means that even if there have been 1,000 civilizations in our own galaxy, if they live only as long as we have been around roughly 10,000 years then all of them are likely already extinct. And others wont evolve until we are long gone. For us to have much chance of success in finding another ‘contemporary’ active technological civilization, on average they must last much longer than our present lifetime.”

(The 10,000-year figure cited by Sullivan refers to humanity’s development of agriculture and other “rudimentary” technologies; mankind has been capable of sending radio waves and other electromagnetic signals out into the cosmos for just a century or so.)

The new study has been published in the journal Astrobiology; you can read it for free here.

Alien megastructure? Dimming star may have less exotic explanation | Fox News

Cascading comets around a distant star. (NASA/JPL/CaltechNASA/JPL/Caltech)

A mysterious darkening star might not be home to an alien megastructure after all. Instead, the dimming that apparently occurred over the course of a century may actually have resulted from how telescopes and cameras have changed over time, researchers said.

Last fall, a star named KIC 8462852 made news when scientists found unusual fluctuations in the object’s light. The star is an otherwise-ordinary F-type star, slightly larger and hotter than Earth’s sun; it sits about 1,480 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Cygnus.

But astronomer Tabetha “Tabby” Boyajian of Yale University in Connecticut and her colleagues, along with citizen scientists from the Planet Hunters crowdsourcing program, found something odd. They discovered dozens of strange instances of the star darkening over a 100-day period when they analyzed data from NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope.

The dimming events blocked up to 22 percent of the light from KIC 8462852, now nicknamed “Tabby’s Star,” making these events far too substantial to be caused by planets crossing (or “transiting”) the star’s face. Scientists also ruled out several other possible explanations, such as an enormous dust cloud.

Such analyses raised the possibility that astronomers had detected signs of alien life specifically, a Dyson sphere, a megastructure built around a star to capture as much of the sun’s energy as possible to power an advanced civilization. (In science fiction, Dyson spheres  which are named after mathematician and physicist Freeman Dyson are often depicted as solid shells around stars, but they could also be spherical swarms of giant solar panels.)

So far, astronomers at the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institutein California analyzing Tabby’s Starwith the Allen Telescope Array have not detected any radio signals that would indicate the presence of an alien civilization. Scientists at SETI International in San Francisco and their colleagues have also failed to detect any laser signals from Tabby’s Star.

Still, in January, astronomer Bradley Schaefer of Louisiana State University reviewed archived photographic plates of the sky taken from 1890 to 1989 and found signs that Tabby’s Star had dimmed by about 20 percent over the past century. He noted that this finding was difficult to explain by natural means. For instance, Schaefer calculated that it would require 648,000 comets, each about 125 miles wide, passing by the star in the past century to cause such dimming.

Now, however, researchers suggest this seemingly century-long dimming trend might not be real. Instead, the apparent darkening may just be due to how astronomical instruments have changed over time.

In the new study, scientists pored over DASCH (Digital Access to a Sky Century @ Harvard) data. This is a collection of more than 500,000 photographic glass plates taken by astronomers at Harvard in Massachusetts between 1885 and 1993 that the university is digitizing.

“It is exciting that we have these century-old data, which are incredibly valuable for checks like this,” study lead author Michael Hippke, an amateur astronomer from the German town of Neukirchen-Vluyn, told Space.com.

The researchers looked not only at Tabby’s Star, but also at a number of comparable stars in the DASCH database. Results showed that many of these other stars experienced a drop in brightness similar to that of Tabby’s Star in the 1960s.

“That indicates the drops were caused by changes in the instrumentation, not by changes in the stars’ brightness,” study co-author Keivan Stassun at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, said in a statement.

“Now, what does that mean for the mystery? Are there no aliens after all? Probably not,” Hippke said in an email. “Still, the daylong dips found by Kepler are real. Something seems to be transiting in front of this star, and we still have no idea what it is.”

The best explanation so far for this dimming may be that a giant comet fragmented into thousands of smaller comets that are now crossing in front of Tabby’s Star, some scientists say. To help solve this celestial mystery, amateur astronomers around the world are working with the American Association of Variable Star Observers to find new dips in the star’s brightness, Hippke noted. Other groups, such as the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope, have also joined the effort, he said.

“Observing further dips in different colors can reveal information about the chemistry of the transiting object, which might confirm or reject a cometary origin,” Hippke said.

The scientists will detail their findings in the Astrophysical Journal.

Mystery alien rock unearthed in Swedish quarry

Piece of meteorite may have resulted form a mid-space collision between vast asteroids more than 470m years ago

A morsel of never-before-seen alien rock has been dug up in a limestone quarry in Sweden, where it had lain deeply buried for about 470m years, scientists said on Tuesday.

The biscuit-sized remains are unlike any other meteorite found on Earth to date, and may shed light on the history and formation of our solar system, they reported in the journal Nature Communications.

Named Oest 65, it is thought to be a splinter of a potato-shaped rock 20-30km (12-19 miles) wide, which had smashed into another much larger body, sprinkling our adolescent planet with debris.

Previously, remnants of only one of the two rocks had been found, in the form of meteorites called chondrites.

But now scientists believe they have unearthed a piece of the second space orb, boosting the theory of a major smash-up between two galactic travellers.

It is thought that the breakup of the bigger chondrite body, about 100-150km across, had yielded a major cluster of rocky debris in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The resultant flux of extraterrestrial material, some of which rained down on Earth, coincided with a massive expansion of invertebrate ocean life at a time our planets landmass was largely fused together into a supercontinent called Gondwana.

The single meteorite that we now found … is of a type that we do not know of from todays world, study co-author Birger Schmitz of Lund University in Sweden told AFP.

Along with about 100 chondrite pieces discovered to date, the new alien fragment had sunk to the floor of an ocean covering parts of what today is a limestone quarry in southern Sweden.

The object contains very high concentrations [compared to Earth materials], of elements such as iridium, which is very rare on Earth, Schmitz explained by email.

The meteorite also contains high concentrations of rare isotopes of the element Neon and in different proportions than in chondrites.

The team measured telltale signs of cosmic radiation in the meteorite to determine how long it had flown around in space before crashing to Earth.

Our meteorite fell 470 million years ago, said Schmitz more or less the same period as the chondrite fragments.

The mysterious morsel may be a fragment of the impactor that broke up the [chondrite] parent body, concluded the study.

The extraterrestrial lander may be the first documented example of an extinct meteorite, so called because its parent body had been entirely consumed by space collisions, meaning no more fragments can fall to Earth today.

Chondrites still drop to our planet every now and then.

The findings mean that todays meteorites on which scientists base much of their assumptions about our solar systems formation are not fully representative of what is, and once was, out there.

Apparently, there is potential to reconstruct important aspects of solar-system history by looking down on Earth sediments, in addition to looking up at the skies, wrote the study authors.
